WELCOME TO MY ONLINE STUDIO - ART BY LYNN H. SHOOK
I have organized my work in to five portfolios that highlight the various narrative styles and formats in which I work. Most of my design work is for home decor, surface design, table top, stationery, gift & collectibles, and art publishing. My themed collections such as Ports O Call, TropaChic, Al Fresco and Maison de Bear have been licensed and applied to furniture, ceramics, home decor accents and art prints. I also offer illustrations and graphics for home fashions textiles, gift & stationery and packaging.
I am interested in work-for-hire, contract and commissioned projects, including licensing designs, and collaborating with companies on special projects. I welcome all professional inquiries. LHShook@mac.com
My Mythology Series is inspired by Dante's
"For most of my career I have been telling stories through my artwork and graphic designs. I have a very eclectic taste, as do my clients require, offering them a variety of styles with distinct looks for special projects and design for license for home decor and art publishers.
My processes typically start with a hand-crafted piece of finished art, and then modified in to a digital format. I have recently introduced some abstract designs beginning with digital photography and then manipulated the image digitally in to art prints and illustrations.
One of my favorite mediums is working in black and white pencil, pen & ink, creating highly rendered and illustrative styles to bold and graphic line work and block print effects.
Many of my themed collections for license include a black and white program. Black and white never goes out of style and translates in to historical to contemporary themes and topics.
I also use vibrant color schemes for gifts, stationery, art prints and home fashions to create a sensory experience. Color stimulates the senses and plays an important role to further tell the story of one's life & style.
I have a passion for creating decorative products and illustration that tells a visual story and evokes a feeling of delight for the viewer or consumer. This, I find very satisfying.

IMAGE SELECTION: All images can be referenced by their title. Those with a size represent the maximum border-less "image" size for printing giclee's or publishing purposes. If there is no size the art is not available for publication, but is a style that I can create for you.
When I graduated from Art Center College of Design I started my career as a graphic designer in NYC. designing Chesebrough Pond's packaging and freelancing for Raymond Loewy-William Snaith Design Consultancy. Within three years I returned to Los Angeles to freelance offering graphics, packaging, illustration and product design to fragrance companies, such as Max Factor. After several years of freelance my late husband Jonathan, and fellow designer, decided we would start our own graphic design firm offering corporate communications and marketing programs this led to working with licensing agents in brand licensing extension and product semantics guidelines for companies such as General Foods / Jello and Land O' Lakes to name a few. In time, opportunities came my way to work in corporate environments as VP of Creative Development overseeing creative teams for Designworks / USA and BMW group offering colors & materials styling for BMW AG and Nokia. At Disney Publishing I oversaw QC for Children's books and Disney Interactive / Educational Publishing product development. At Enesco I managed the Precious Moment Brand Group and had an exclusive license with Enesco for some of my home decor designs.
